What is Analytics Intelligence?

Google Analytics now has a new feature called Analytics Intelligence . This tool uses machine learning so you can get more information to your numbers with less knowledge of Google Analytics. From what we saw, Analytics Intelligence is not yet available in Spanish, that is why if you want to use it you will have to change the language configuration to English.

To start using Analytics Intelligence, you have to click the icon that appears in the top right corner of the main Google Analytics dashboard. If it does not appear, remember to change your account settings to English.

The Analytics Intelligence icon is located in the upper right section of the main dashboard.

Once the icon is clicked, a menu with a text box is displayed to write our searches. In this menu, you will save a history of our recent queries and you can also save popular searches so you do not have to manually type them every time you want to access the data.

There is a wide variety of things that can be asked to Analytics Intelligence. Then we will make a sample with a single search, but if you want more information about what you can ask, we recommend you read the official documentation that has some examples. In our experience, the more the tool is used, the more types of questions come to light.

Let’s try an example. Suppose we want to know who converts more by gender. Maybe women buy more in your place than men; maybe not. To find out this, it is not necessary to know each of the menus and sub-menus of Google Analytics, but we can type in Analytics Intelligence something like ‘do men or women convert more?’ (remember that, at the time of writing this note, this functionality was available only in English).

Google Analytics Intelligence search result

Here we can see the search result of Analytics Intelligence when we asked who converted more by gender.

This search is a simple example of what can be done with Intelligence functionality. If we wanted to filter this data by date, we could ask something like ‘did men or women convert more in November?’. Once you return the information we asked for, we can click the ‘Go to report’ button to see the entire report. This also helps us gain time when we do not want to load all the data every time we add a filter to it.

We hope that this brief summary has served to understand a little more what Analytics Intelligence is. Although the functionality is still a bit green and is not available in Spanish, it will surely improve and become more robust day by day. The number of searches that can be done to Analytics Intelligence is limited to what may happen and the data that your Google Analytics account has. Now, try doing some searches!
